INGRAM's roots go back to the mid 1980s with founder Darren Ingram being active providing electronic news services on various then proprietary online services (in the days before the Internet was even heard of for most people). Darren Ingram then worked both as a staff reporter and a freelance for many local, national and international newspapers as well as a range of specialist industry publications. In the early 1990s Darren Ingram then started to publish under his own name a satellite industry newsletter and things then grew exponentially. By the mid 1990s things had expanded to include a major international press release distribution newswire service and several well-regarded daily industry specific news services. The dot.com boom and bust period went by without affecting business operations and up to the sale of the core media business unit in 2006 things had continued to expand and develop at a rapid pace. Philosopher Albert Schwitzer once wrote that "...success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful." That does seem to be a rather good maxim for INGRAM's philosophy too. |
